May 16 TBD Ride to Overland Park City Hall – join a regular group of bike commuters for this morning ride to the office.

May 17 Advocacy Day – Supporting local and regional efforts to make streets safe for bicyclists. Details at http://www.mobikefed.org/

7:00 PM Ride of Silence – Join cyclists worldwide in a silent slow-paced ride in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways. Meet at 6:30 PM at 62nd Terrace/Brookside North parking lot for a 14 mile ride. http://www.rideofsilence.org/

TBD LIVESTRONG Day – Join the Lance Armstrong Foundation in raising awareness of and bringing attention to the need for cancer research. Local details TBD. http://www.livestrong.org/

May 18 6:30 PM Ride to Dinner – Join in an after work ride to dinner, meeting in Brookside. (Details to come)

TBD Trek of KC/Localcycling.com Team Recognition Party – So you watched them race on Tuesday, now come out and raise a glass to the teams! (Details to come)

May 19 Ride to Work Day

7:00 – Breakfast on the Trolley Track Trail – Hosted by Clean
9:00 AM Commute, volunteers will be handing out food/beverages and lots of encouragement to all who ride to work! Food stations will be set-up at 75th/Wornall Park and Ride lot and near the UMKC residence halls on the trail.

Register with RideShare for Guaranteed Ride Home and Bike Buddies. Representatives will be on site with freebies!

“Your Bike is Your Ticket to Ride” FREE on KCATA and the JO. TODAY ONLY! Consider splitting your commute by biking part way, then taking the bus. Volunteers will be on site to demonstrate how to use the bus bike carriers. You’ll be surprised how easy it is!

TBD Bike-In Movie – End your week with a bike themed movie.

May 20 11:30 AM Major Taylor Foundation of Greater Kansas City – meets every Saturday in the Crossroads for a family fun ride through Kansas City. Details at http://www.localcycling.com/

All day long Ride to Do Your Errands – Get out of your car, save some gas and get some unintentional exercise while you get all your Saturday errands done.

May 21 Ride to Church/Temple – Consider riding to your place of worship today. Invite others to join you. Think of the great stories you’ll have for coffee hour!

ALL WEEK LONG Take the Challenge – The Bike Commuter Challenge! Form a team or register individually to log your miles on the bike for the week.
